Cost estimation – repair

Audi A4 B5/8D home repair

According to the workshop, the ABS sensors, wheel bearings and brakes (including pads) in my car have to be redone – all around!

I will receive the estimate in the course of the afternoon.

First of all, however, I would like to know here how much you estimate, as I would also like to obtain offers from other workshops in my town.

if you do it yourself, you have to reckon with 200 euros. With brake discs front and rear, pads, sensors and bearings.

Was there an error message with ABS sensors? And then all 4 should be made:confused:

And do the wheel bearings also make noise? and also all 4:confused:

And if you don’t have a Quattro, the rear bearings are replaced whenever new brake discs are due.

It all sounds very strange to me… but that’s just my opinion.

But then you are at the bottom shelf.

I only paid for brake discs and receipts (front and rear) rear bearings and two ABS rings over 200€.

I was now in another workshop to get a second opinion:

When it came to ABS sensors, he was skeptical! Allegedly, you can somehow heat the existing sensors and then continue to use them.

There is no error message on the display, he asked me exactly the same question.

Purely from driving rather wheel bearings front (driver’s side) and rear (passenger side).

Yes, I have a front-wheel drive, but I didn’t know that you always change bearings and brake letters together (i.e. on the HA) 😀

Jo, it’s weird. That’s why I decided today to interview a second workshop.

Tomorrow I have an appointment to bring the car over, that you have a look at it first.

Then the ABS rings are meant. Yes you can try to get the rear brake discs. Which unfortunately does not always work (break very much).

And a second opinion is always good.

I paid for rear (brake, handbrake, wheel bearings, ABS rings) two years ago 450.-Eur incl. working time.

It’s also a question of liability for the workshop.

What I would like to add: There are only independent workshops in my village (18,000 inhabitants).

I paid 1200€ for brakes all around, wheel bearings and ABS rings almost 10 years ago.

The price range is enormous, depending on the spare parts used and hourly rates of the workshop. Here in southern Germany, for example, they are significantly higher than in the east or north.
